Why SafeSuite Matters

Modern threats require proactive protection. In an active attacker event, doors, glass doors, windows, and curtain walls are often the weakest points — the first exploited by an intruder to gain entry. SafeSuite addresses these vulnerabilities head-on by reinforcing those critical openings and nearby surfaces.

Experts studying safe shelter design emphasize that secure refuge spaces should delay forced entry long enough for police response and occupant survival, often measured in critical seconds to minutes depending on response time and threat scenario.

SafeSuite is engineered to:

Delay and deter forced entry

Protect against ballistic attack

Maintain visibility and aesthetic integrity

Integrate seamlessly with existing buildings

SafeSuite FAQs

SafeSuite™ is an integrated interior hardening and safe room system incorporating forced-entry, ballistic, and impact-resistant glazing, framing, doors, and wall panel systems. It is engineered to provide delay, deterrence, and occupant protection within existing or new building interiors.

Typical applications include:

  • High-risk commercial and mixed-use properties
  • K–12 and higher education facilities
  • Class A office and corporate headquarters
  • Government and municipal buildings
  • Healthcare and institutional facilities

SafeSuite is a system-based solution. Each deployment is project-specific and engineered based on threat profile, building conditions, code constraints, and architectural integration requirements.

Depending on design intent and threat level, SafeSuite may incorporate:

  • Anchoring, framing, and attachment assemblies engineered as a coordinated system
  • DefenseLite® forced-entry resistant glazing systems (ASTM F3561-aligned)
  • BulletShield® ballistic-resistant glazing systems (UL 752 / NIJ-aligned)
  • AccessShield® re-glazing framing and door systems
  • RiotLite™ security window film systems for impact and glass retention
  • SafeWood protective wall panel systems and architectural wood finishes

System configurations can be engineered to align with:

  • ASTM F3561 Forced-Entry Resistance
  • UL 752 Ballistic Resistance Levels
  • NIJ 0108.01 ballistic standards (where applicable)
  • IBC and local building code requirements

Final certification and compliance depend on system configuration, substrate, anchorage, and installation conditions.

Yes. SafeSuite is designed for retrofit integration into existing glazing, interior partitions, and wall assemblies with minimal façade disruption. Full glass replacement is not required in many applications.

SafeSuite is designed to integrate within architectural interiors. SafeWood panels and architectural finishes can conceal protective systems while maintaining Class A interior aesthetics, material palettes, and design intent.

SafeSuite systems are engineered to mitigate:

  • Shelter-in-place and lockdown requirements
  • Forced-entry intrusion and smash-and-grab events
  • Active assailant and hostile intruder scenarios
  • Ballistic threats (configuration-dependent)
  • Civil unrest, vandalism, and impact events

SafeSuite integrates protective systems directly into occupied spaces (classrooms, offices, conference rooms), enabling distributed shelter-in-place zones rather than isolated hardened rooms.

Yes. SafeSuite supports standardized engineering, detailing, and repeatable specifications for multi-site portfolios, campuses, and phased security master plans.

Yes. SafeSuite can incorporate ballistic and forced-entry resistant doors, frames, and re-glazing systems as part of a coordinated security assembly.

SafeWood provides protective wall panel systems and architectural wood finishes that integrate impact and ballistic protection with premium interior design and materiality.

Indicative timelines (project-dependent):

  • Threat assessment and schematic design: 2–6 weeks
  • Engineering, detailing, and procurement: 4–12 weeks
  • Installation: phased per project schedule and occupancy constraints

Yes. SafeSuite can be incorporated during design development and construction documentation for full integration with glazing, framing, and interior wall assemblies.

SafeSuite provides intrusion delay, ballistic mitigation, and protected shelter-in-place zones, increasing response time for occupants and first responders.

SafeSuite systems are designed to comply with IBC and applicable local codes. Coordination with the Architect of Record, structural engineer, and AHJ is required for final approval.

Installation must be performed by Impact Security-certified or authorized installers to maintain system performance and warranty compliance.

SafeSuite deployments are engineered to match tested conditions where applicable. Performance is dependent on system configuration, anchorage, substrate conditions, and installation quality.

Warranty terms vary by component and system configuration and are provided during specification and procurement.

Costs are project-specific and driven by threat level, glazing area, door and wall assemblies, anchorage, and architectural finishes. Conceptual budgets and detailed estimates are provided during design consultation.

Yes. SafeSuite supports phased implementation, allowing prioritization of high-risk areas and budget-driven deployment.

SafeSuite is typically specified via Division 08 (Openings), Division 09 (Finishes), and Division 13 (Special Construction) sections with coordinated details and performance criteria. Impact Security provides specification language, details, and BIM content upon request.

CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS

“Recently we had a torch attack on the side door at our Patagonia Portland Store (there have been two now). And last week we had a cinderblock attack on the same set of doors. There are no broken door glass, the doors were not damaged, and no intrusions into our store. Without DefenseLite, the damage to the door glass and doors would have been in the 10K range minimum. Then you have the amount of product that could have been taken out of our store. And then (a harder matrix to measure) store moral and store appearances would have most likely have suffered. Bottom line, DefenseLite works again!

“While there are numerous aspects to any comprehensive security program, if you are able to make the windows of a facility difficult or impossible to breach, you can significantly enhance the overall security of the site. Many institutions take actions to secure their facilities without considering the “why” behind those actions. The best security plans are rooted in security principles that allow you to gain time during an emergency situation, and keep a threatening person at a distance. This is exactly why we utilized DefenseLite and BulletShield for our more vulnerable clientele, worldwide. Having worked on numerous and complicated security projects all over the world we have also experienced the value of having a high quality partner to properly install these items. Jeff Franson and his team have always done a stellar job, going above and beyond, and have ensured that the windows at our sites have the highest level of security features.”

“I just wanted to take a minute to let you know that we recently had an attempted break in, the key word here is (attempted). Around 5:30 AM 3 individuals pulled up to the store, got out of a car, wearing masks and carrying bats and bricks. One started throwing a landscaping brick (~10 pounds) at the glass door protected by DefenseLite and the rock just bounced off, the other two went to work on one of the windows with the bats. The bats had little effect on the DefenseLite. After about 5 minutes of repeatedly throwing the brick at the door the glass behind the DefenseLite broke, but the DefenseLite stayed intact. The three spent a total of 8 and a half minutes beating on the Defense with rock and bats and still did not get in. I am 100% confident had I not chosen to put the DefenseLite they would have gotten it and gotten away with countless guns and I would have been dealing with the ATF and State Police for weeks if not longer and there would be a lot of illegal guns on the street. DefenseLite is hands down the best means of keeping bad people out of your store.

“As a security and protective design and engineering consultant for 45 years, and after having participated in reviewing, analyzing, testing and subsequently specifying many different force protection products for clients with extreme security concerns, I would strongly advise those in similar positions to consider the products sold under the “DefenseLite” brand name, and fabricated, furnished and installed by Impact Security. We have submitted their products to personal attacks by our security specialists and been engaged in having their products tested under live firing range conditions by elite law enforcement agencies for ballistic resistance and forced entry and can attest to their efficacy and value.”

DefenseLite recently completed a very complex lobby project for us which entailed a specialized design with multiple pieces and required a challenging installation. We could not be happier. The project was a grand success and the DefenseLite management as well as installers were the utmost professionals demonstrating genuine care and customer service. Their technical knowledge is superb. We felt very taken care of as updates and good communication with us were continually provided. Thanks!”
